ABOUT THE PRINCIPLE

Sam started dancing at the age of 4 years, covering Tap, Ballet, Jazz and Modern theatre. She took part in many shows and exams throughout these years, as well as performing at Saddler Wells Theatre, Her majesties Theatre and the London Palladium.

At the age of 16, Sam successfully auditioned for a full-time dance college. Here she studied Ballet, Contemporary, Jazz, Musical Theatre, Street Dance, Singing and Acting as well as having regular lectures in the History of Dance, Anatomy, Music, Dance Notation, Dance Theory and Criticism, Choreography and Dance in Popular Culture, where she completed 3 years and passed with distinction.

Once Sam finished college she started to attend auditions to peruse her dance career, and landed a dance contract with Sky Sports dance team, traveling around the UK with the most popular sports teams, performing in front of thousands of people, as well as being televised. This then lead to backing dancing, for United Nations, Mystique, Girls Aloud and Heather Small, at the Rugby Grand Final events. Sam has also had a few TV appearances, such as They Think it’s All Over and RI:SE breakfast show.

While performing, Sam also ran Dance Fitness Workshops through the Sky Sports dance company in local schools. From here, Sam decided it was the teaching aspect of dance that she was truly passionate about, and then Reaching On Up School Of Dance was born.
